Carved Hiking Sticks - Make Your Own

What do you need to make your own hand carved hiking sticks. A pocket knife and a walk in the woods. Be sure your knife is solidly built. You don t need more than a three-inch blade, but it needs to be strong enough that it won t snap on you when you hit a knot in the wood. A locking blade is a good idea too, if you value your fingers. What type of wood should you use. Any type you want, but be aware of the differences. Many people like hardwood hiking sticks because they can be very beautiful once polished up. That s fine if you don t mind the extra work it takes to carve hardwoods. Also be aware that they are heavy, better suited for decorating the cabin than for using on long hikes. One of my favorite trees for carved hiking sticks is poplar. It s light, and one of the easiest woods to work with. Young poplars often grow in over-crowded stands, so cutting a few out won t hurt the forest. If you cut it in the spring or early summer, you can almost peel the bark off by hand. Northern White Cedar is a...

The Complexity Of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Systemic lupus erythematosus is a life-threatening chronic autoimmune disease. Although the mortality rate of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus has reduced in the last decades, the disease continues to raise serious problems to the affected persons. Research results reveal that around 2 million people in the United States suffer from systemic lupus erythematosus and almost 90 percent of patients are females. The disease has the highest incidence in young women with ages between 18 and 30 years old. Asian, Hispanic and African American women are more exposed to developing systemic lupus erythematosus than white women. In Asian and African countries, the incidence of the disease in women is known to be a lot higher than in the United States. Furthermore, Asian and African American women seem to develop more serious forms of the disease. Systemic lupus erythematosus is also common in infants, very young children and elderly people. Modern medicine is unable to establish the actual causes of...

Stop Snoring - Getting To The Root Of The Problem.

The search for a way to stop snoring is big business. Pharmaceutical companies have spent who knows how much on sprays, head aids, pillows and alternative remedies and therapies to help sufferers stop snoring but do they work. Well, my own experience is that some do and some don t. The most effective ones seem to be those that make you so uncomfortable at night that it s impossible to sleep, let alone snore. If sleep deprivation is the tactic then some have cured me overnight!. On a more serious note it is important not to be taken in by the newest spray or miracle potion that emerges. Let s face facts this is business to an awful lot of people, and as business goes, repeat customers bring in the most bucks. You see it s not just the snoring prevention industry that suffers this dilemma it is part of any profit making company that seeks to bring relief for any ailment or problem. In short they need you to keep a certain level of suffering and at the same time they need you to see some improvement from...

Are All The Work At Home Opportunities Really Scams?

Finding a legitimate way to work at home is frustrating. The legitimate jobs are few and far between. There are ever so many home business opportunities out there, and it s hard to tell who s real and who s a scam. The first thing to consider is whether you want a job or a business. If you want a job, expect that you will not have to pay any money, except, perhaps for a background check, which some legitimate companies do charge. Do some research first to ensure that the particular company is reputable. On the other hand, you should expect to invest some money in a home business. Even if there s no cost to join, you ll pay to advertise, to print business cards, flyers and so forth. You might pay for products. It just depends on the particular business. Now, I m not going to recommend a particular business here. That s not what I m writing about. The right business for you is the one that interests you most and you will feel motivated to work on. For some people, that means joining a direct sales...

Sepsis Food Poisoning

Food poisoning is a sepsis The presence of harmful microorganisms or associated toxins in the blood and tissues , that is caused by consuming foods that are contaminated with pathogenic bacteria, toxins, viruses, prions or parasites. These contaminations are normally as a result of improper handling, storage or preparation of food. Pesticides added to food can also add in the likelyhood of consumption of the viruses. Contact that Pests, such as flies and cockroaches have with food, further increases the change of contamination. Because symptoms often don t occur for several hours after the contaminated food is eaten, it is hard at times to pin the tail on the donkey and figure out exactly where it came from. Initial Food Poisoning symptoms generally include: vomiting, diarrhea, fever, nausea, abdominal pain, headache or tiredness. Typically our body is able to recover by itself from the poisoning, after a short period of time. In rare cases, especially with babies and pregnant women, food poisoning...

Modern Uses For Ceramics

We commonly think of ceramics as art objects and decorations. But ceramics really are diverse pieces of multi-purpose material that are made from burning formed pieces of pottery. This shaped clay started out many years ago being hand-formed and was eventually made with a wheel to iron out any fingerprints or major imperfections. Handmade ceramic is still made as an art form today, even though it is no longer the industry standard for making objects. As a beginner you would learn to mold, glaze and trim the clay to form objects. Uniquely painted, polished and decorated ceramic is always sought after. Developing your own style will come from practice and experimentation. Most ceramic materials, however, are now made with precision using machines that do not rely at all on the human touch. But it doesn t mean that this molded clay doesn t touch our lives. Modern developments have made it possible for companies to create new and diverse products from the clay that can change how we do things in the...
